Airlangga, Dinesvara profile picMA Graduate – Class of 2017

I was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia and come from a family of Indonesian and Dutch descent. Growing up, I was blessed with the opportunity to travel around the world and live in countries such as Australia. Throughout my early education, I was placed in international schools in Jakarta and was exposed to a variety of different cultures early on. As a result of my upbringing, I have developed a deep interest in global affairs, particularly in international business and economics. My desire for obtaining a global education led me to pursue my bachelor’s degree in the University of Washington, where I majored in finance and lead several international business student organizations.

Research Interests

My future career goal is to be able adopt a role in shaping Indonesia’s public policy. I hope to be able to add constructively to Indonesia’s global economic policies that will progress my home country and also benefit other nations. With that in mind, my initial area of research interest is the role of financial institutions in the economic development of South East Asian Nations. In particular, private corporations and how their operations can have a significant impact on a nation such as Indonesia’s economic growth. Often nations in South East Asia prioritize economic growth at the expense of social and environmental welfare. I hope to be able to observe and propose policies that can strike the balance between economic growth and socio-environmental development.
