While originally from Colorado, my most recent years have been spent in Orange County, California where I earned my undergraduate degree from Chapman University. I earned a dual B.A. in Creative Film Producing and Political Science working to align my interests in international relations and the arts. I interned at Twentieth Century Fox and CBS while also participating in cultural exchanges to Cuba, Haiti, Honduras, and through Semester at Sea. The past year I have been teaching English in Thailand. At Columbia, I look forward to further aligning these interests and utilizing the arts, specifically visual storytelling, as a tool in diplomacy and development.
During my undergraduate career, I researched girls’ access to education in developing countries and its impact on local and global development. I aim to continue this research, specifically how to account for local cultural, geographic, and historic factors when addressing the issue of access to education. Additionally, I am interested in arts in diplomacy and the role that arts education and media can play in aiding development and increasing overall awareness and cultural understanding.
