I come from the sunny island of Singapore but moved to London in 2014 to study at the London School of Economics and Political Science with a major in International Relations. Being at LSE was an immensely rewarding experience. I enjoyed the academic rigour and the diverse environment. It was also a place where I got to further pursue my extracurricular interests in Floorball and Dance. Outside of LSE, I loved exploring London and Europe. I look forward to starting a new chapter of my life at Columbia University and I am thrilled to be given the chance to live in New York City and be able to travel in both North and South America.
My primary research interest lies in the foreign policies of East Asian states, in particular, China, Japan and Korea. Having done modules relating to strategic aspects of international relations and foreign policy analysis, I am intrigued by the peculiarities of the foreign policy substance and decision-making processes of these states. Although I have not decided the exact topic for my research project, I hope to continue to explore the security relations between the East Asian states and how these are affected by the region’s unique history and culture.
