carolColumbia University professor and CGT Chair Carol Gluck delivered a keynote address at the Fifth Congress of Asian and Pacific Studies in Paris on September 9, 2015, titled “The Comfort Women and the Politics of Memory in East Asia.”

Held in Paris at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations, Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales (Inalco), the congress of GIS Asie and the Réseau Asie & Pacifique is a much anticipated event by researchers studying Asia and the Pacific, primarily in the humanities and social sciences. In 2011, the previous meeting brought together a total of 600 participants in parallel sessions of some forty panels selected by a Scientific Committee.

gis_asie_reseau_asie_gmThis congress is organised by the French research consortium for Asian studies (GIS Asie), and the Asia and the Pacific Network (Réseau Asie & Pacifique) along with the French national center for scientific research (CNRS). It is the only congress in France bringing together researchers whose work deals with Asia and the Pacific.

Congratulations Professor Gluck!
