Graduate Program Director

Rebecca Feinberg is the Graduate Program Director for the Committee on Global Thought. She advises students in their course work and research and co-instructs the Core M.A. Seminar.

Feinberg is an anthropologist and international educator whose work explores the relationships forged between people and their social / natural environments through the production and consumption of food. Her research takes up the tropes associated with wine—heritage, terroir, and rootedness—and analyzes how Italian wine producers enact these forms of value through their partnerships with immigrants and their adaptations to a shifting global market. Feinberg is always interested in examining what makes here meaningful for a community, and how those qualities are continually remade via relationships with elsewhere.

She holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and is a proud alumna of Columbia College.
