M.A. Student – Class of 2022

Citizenship: United States

Having an international upbringing has diversified the places I call home. From being born in Hong Kong, yet raised in the United States, to spending my summers visiting family in Inner Mongolia, a global outlook was instilled in me from an early age that is reflected in my career and education goals.

In my undergraduate studies at Bucknell University, I pursued Economics and Environmental Studies to explore the intersection of global markets and environmental degradation, while considering ways to marriage market economies and sustainability moving forward. Upon graduation, I worked in media as a Photographer, Videographer, and Video Editor focusing on the music entertainment, and content creation sectors. Most recently I have been pursuing a documentary on SoHo’s creative class of the 1960-the 80s with NYU’s XE: Experimental Humanities & Social Engagement with a look at gentrification, race, and Sino-U.S. relations of that era.

At Columbia, I intend to study the intersection of international political economy with sustainable economic development to broaden my horizons towards emerging industry sectors, viable solutions to future global issues, and new ways of thinking.
