Citizenship: United States and Bangladesh
As a first-generation Bangladeshi-American woman exposed to both the flourishing promises of our neoliberal world in New York City and its crippling repercussions in Bangladesh, I have developed an innate passion to seek pragmatic alternatives to institutionalized global systems of oppression that continue to divide the developed and the developing world. I majored in Global Liberal Studies with a concentration in Politics, Rights, and Development and a minor in Social Entrepreneurship at New York University. The Global Thought program aligns perfectly with my ambition to gain a holistic and socially conscious understanding of multifaceted global issues while continuing to make connections across disciplinary boundaries, embrace new perspectives, and transcend barriers. I hope to pursue a career in the nonprofit sector and eventually work for global development agencies and the UN.
