Citizenship: United States and Taiwan
Food has always been the highest expression of unconditional love in my Taiwanese family. Since a young age, food has been an essential part of my immigrant identity and my favorite thing about Taipei, Shanghai, and Los Angeles, the three places I call home. Cooking and all things food-related are not only my greatest personal passion, but have also inspired me to investigate how products we consume flow through a complex global food system to end up on our plates after passing through numerous different hands. At Columbia, I hope to study this intricate process in relation to other critical global issues, including climate change, income inequality, and public health, to ultimately devise legislative policies to promote a more sustainable and equitable global food future.
