Citizenship: Trinidad and Tobago

I was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago but I am of Chinese, Portuguese, and Indian heritage. Being mixed race in a non-homogenous country offered me insight into various cultures of the societal melting pot, including those of my own. I like to identify with all, but I consider it a blessing to be Trinidadian first. At 17, I relocated to Texas, where I studied and played soccer at UTEP. As my last five years have been in New York City — four while studying at Hofstra University — I consider all three of these places home in their own way. I want to further my education in climate change solutions, particularly in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

My educational background includes a BA in Psychology, an MA in PR, and an MA in Sustainability. Outside of the classroom, my experiences with the Climate Museum, Student Government, and Comfort Keepers have reminded me of the importance of acting on injustices, particularly ensuring access to healthcare and a livable future for all.
