Citizenship: Japan and United Kingdom
Since spending most of my childhood moving around (Germany, South Africa, The Gambia, Namibia), I have oscillated between New York and London. With a Japanese mother and British/Nigerian father, my international upbringing has made me acutely aware of the vastness of the human experience. This is undoubtedly the root of my interest in stories and, coupled with a passion for writing, led me to pursue the BA (Hons) English degree at University College London (UCL).
During the MA in Global Thought, I am eager to get more involved in the fields of international relations, global governance, and human rights law. Despite globalization, countries are increasingly acting in self-interest and out of self-preservation, a philosophy that perpetuates conflict and inhibits development opportunities. Ultimately, I hope to use my uniquely multilateral perspective to connect people and help build bridges between different social justice movements, a critical tool for progress.
