Citizenship: Bangladesh

I grew up in a small apartment with a large bookshelf that opened doors to different parts of the world. This led me to embrace living in the “in-betweenness” rather than defining one place as home. Bangladesh, my country of citizenship, is culturally diverse and has a long history of socio-political transitions. Diving into my roots, I realized how we human beings divide ourselves and cause violence, suffering, and displacement around the world. This realization was deepened by my daily commute through streets dotted with homeless individuals, which etched a profound impact on me. With a BA and MA in Architecture, I have explored trauma-informed design and how design can heal. Through the Global Thought program, I seek to broaden my understanding of how design activism and progressive values can address suffering and violence and advance global solidarity and peace.
