Harnessing Our Mutual Responsibilities to Solve Global Challenges

2021 “Rise or Fall Together” Interdependence Summit

As the Delta variant spreads across the world, a global end to the pandemic still seems far from clear. A recent climate change report provides a grim prognosis without an actionable agenda. Fueled by the flames of the pandemic and climate change, poverty and inequality continue unabated.

Why, why, and why?

Why aren’t we able to adequately address these issues and take action? How can we come together to make a difference? Recognizing the mutual responsibilities of our deep global interdependence is not charity or idealism but, instead, the best available path toward building a safer future for all.

On Thursday, September 23, our second annual global interdependence summit, “Rise or Fall Together: Harnessing Our Mutual Responsibilities to Solve Global Challenges,” will bring together some of the world’s most inspiring people, including former Prime Minister of Australia The Honorable Kevin Rudd AC, WHO Chief Scientist Soumya Swaminathan; global business leader Ajay Banga, civil society leader Naina Lal Kidwai, world-renowned composer and musician Arturo O’Farrill, African Leadership Institute CEO Jackie Chimhanzi, and climate change expert Manish Bapna, to name just a few. They will explore how we can best build a world where leaders at all levels do a far better job of balancing our narrower national, corporate, and tribal interests with our broader interests as humans sharing the same planet. The summit will develop new strategies for building an empowered global constituency representing our common humanity and for transforming a recognition of the mutual responsibilities of our interdependence to help solve our greatest common challenges.
