The Committee on Global Thought participated in the Uptown People’s Assembly hosted by Columbia University’s Wallach Art Gallery. The event acted as a generative space of listening and sharing as the United States and the world face the two raging pandemics of public health and police violence.

Dr. Vishakha N. Desai, Vice Chair of the CGT, hosted an hour-long discussion from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM EST as part of the day-long event. Dr. Desai used knowledge acquired as lead of the CGT signature research project “Politics of Visual Arts in a Changing World” to discuss how we should think about art-making and art-presenting during the twin pandemics.
