Adam Tooze | November 25, 2020 | VVOJ Conference

The VVOJ conference 2020 was kicked off on November 25 by Adam Tooze. He is a historian, professor at Columbia University in New York and author of ‘Crashed: How a Decade of Financial Crises Changed the World’, the ultimate chronicle of the global financial crisis in 2008. In that book, Tooze brings together historiography, journalistic research and academic insights and tells the story of that crisis like no one else did.

He is therefore the guest of choice to talk about how journalists can report on the current crisis. How do you penetrate to the highest ranks of major global institutions such as the IMF, the Fed or the ECB? How do you approach top officials and politicians to find out what is really going on behind the scenes? As an experienced crisis strategist, Tooze guides the way through the stories in this corona crisis. Ewald Engelen, professor of Financial Geography and Op-Ed writer at De Groene Amsterdammer, interviewed him.
