Hope Michelle Shinderman is a second-year student at Columbia College studying human rights. Hope has an innate desire to correct the injustices they perceive in the world. As an autistic person, they are incredibly passionate about disability justice, especially as it pertains to the criminal legal system. Having worked at the ACLU’s National Prison Project and the Loyola Project for the Innocent, Hope plans to continue addressing issues of disability and incarceration as a Global Thought Scholar. Additionally, Hope’s academic interests center on social and critical theory and they are excited to continue applying their scholarship to real world social justice work.
