M.A. Student – Class of 2022

Citizenship: Netherlands

I grew up in the Netherlands and have lived there my whole life. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences at Leiden University College the Hague, with a major in Governance, Economics, and Development and a minor in electives with a focus on energy science, environmental law, and geopolitics. Through several extracurricular activities, I became involved in theatre production, filmmaking, and international climate politics.

After my bachelor’s degree, I pursued a master’s degree in Global Business and Sustainability at the Rotterdam School of Management, where I primarily focused on sustainable finance. During my time there, I worked in the responsible investment department of an asset manager. My main tasks were primarily focused on engagement with major corporations to improve their climate change-related policies.

At Columbia, I would like to build upon my knowledge about climate change, specifically in regards to the energy transition, climate adaptation, and sustainable finance. Furthermore, I would like to follow my passion for filmmaking by taking courses on documentary production and science communication.
