Citizenship: Brazil

I was born and raised in Nova Friburgo, a charming and hospitable mountain town in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where my fascination for other cultures, the arts, international politics, and the environment was nourished. I hold a B.A. in International Studies and Political Science from Centre College, where I graduated as a Lincoln Scholar with a concentration on Global Political Economic Development. At Columbia, I will focus my investigation on how, in order to tackle 21st century challenges–such as pandemics, climate change, territorial conflicts, financial instability, disruptive technologies, and government distrust–we need to reimagine our current approaches toward multilateral/international cooperation. I intend to pursue a career in public life through either diplomatic work around the world or joining the political struggle and debate in Brazil. I want to continue to write and prospectively teach at the university level, contributing to debates on matters that affect our ever-growing and challenging global society.
