Citizenship: Sudan

Although I spent the majority of my life in Abu Dhabi, I consider myself a global citizen. I grew up in a multicultural household where global affairs were a frequent topic of conversation, particularly in relation to Sudan and the SWANA region. I love starting new hobbies and exploring diverse personal and academic interests. I left the UAE to pursue bachelor degrees in Political Science and Global Studies at UCLA, but art will always be my first passion. With an emphasis on the civil conflict in Sudan, I plan to research the centrality of women activists in local reforms in the Global South. Through the opportunities and resources of the Global Thought program, I hope to also integrate my interest in contemporary Sudanese art that was informed by or addresses the civil conflict. After this program, I hope to begin my career at a women-led civil society organization or continue my research in pursuit of a Ph.D.
