Citizenship: United States

As a Korean-Pakistani-American born and raised in Queens, New York, I plan to dedicate my MA studies and research in Global Thought to highlighting the problem of racial hierarchies and ideologies of racial supremacy in Korea and East Asia more broadly, which have yet to receive critical attention in academia or public discourse. I expect to use my MA essay to comprehensively outline the history of genocide, ethnic-cleansing, and contemporary discrimination against mixed-race and multicultural Koreans rooted in ideologies of Korean “blood purity” apropos of Han Minjok. In doing so, I hope to advocate for a second-wave of anti-racism regarding racial supremacies beyond whiteness and for a full vision of social justice.
