Citizenship: Netherlands
Country borders are a curious thing. Being born and raised in South Holland would by any definition make me Dutch. Yet, I’ve never experienced it like that. I would very much describe myself as a cosmopolitan. I grew up with the cuisine of the world around me; music from all kinds of places and world politics have long been topics of discussion in my spheres. While coming from a lower education background, in recent years I have had the honor of further developing my knowledge and interest in international politics at Leiden University and through my work for the House of Representatives. I hope to use my time at Columbia University to further develop my knowledge of international politics in correlation to conflict, the concept of normative power, and acts of coercion for environmental goals. Following that, I hope to enter the world of international politics.
